A List of Chromebook Shortcuts

A List of Chromebook shortcut keys

I keep finding myself needing to look up keyboard shortcuts for my Acer Chromebook. So I've decided to start building my list here under Consumer Bits. My ONLY real complaint about this beast is that it won't let you install anything, It has to be a Google app... or "cloud" app or whatever you want to call the internet:

Chromebook Keyboard Shortcuts:

Go to Beginning of Document = Ctrl Search ‘left arrow’

BOOKMARK = Ctrl D
BOOKMARK All Pages = Ctrl Shift D
BOOKMARKS Bar, Focus = ALt Shift B (Use arrows to select)
BOOKMARKS Bar, Toggle = Ctrl Shift B

Turning on CAPS Lock = ALT Search

Open the Chrome Menu (UR corner menu) = Alt E or Alt F
Close Current TAB = Ctrl W
Close Current WINDOW = Ctrl Shift W
Copy = Ctrl C
Cut = Ctrl X

DELETE key emulation = Alt Backspace
DELETE forward = Alt Backspace
Delete Next Letter = Alt Backspace
Delete Previous Word = Ctrl Backspace




Web page DEVELOPER Tools  = Ctrl Shift I
DOM Inspector = Ctrl Shift J
DOWNLOADS page, Open = Ctrl J

END key emulation= Ctrl Alt ‘down arrow’
End of Document = Ctrl Search ‘right arrow’

Emulate the F-keys = ‘search key’ (the magnifying glass symbol) + 1-12
Files App, Open = Alt Shift M
FIND on page = Ctrl F
FIND next match = Ctrl G or Enter
FIND prev match = Ctrl Shift G or Shift Enter
Forward delete = Alt-Backpsace

Help Center = Ctrl ?
Show Hidden Files = Ctrl .
HISTORY, Open = Ctrl H
Go to HOME = Ctrl Alt ‘up arrow’



Keyboard Shortcuts = Ctrl Alt /
Launch Shelf Apps = Alt + 1 – 8

To LOCK the Screen = Ctrl shift L
LOGOUT = Ctrl Shift Q

MONITOR mirror = Ctrl + full screen key (fifth key top row)
Move to End of Sentence = Ctrl Alt 'down arrow'
Move to End of Next Word = Ctrl ‘right arrow’
Move to Start of Prev Word = Ctrl ‘left arrow’

NEW WINDOW = Ctrl N
NEW WINDOW Incognito = Ctrl Shift N
NEW Tab = Ctrl T

OPEN FILE in browser = Ctrl O
OPEN FILE MANAGER/APP = Ctrl Alt M
OPEN LINK New Tab = Alt click link
OPEN TASK MANAGER = shift esc

PAGE down = Alt ‘down arrow’
PAGE up = Alt ‘up arrow’
Paste = Ctrl V
Paste as plain text = Ctrl Shift V

RELOAD page = Ctrl R
RELOAD page w/o cached info = Ctrl Shift R
REOPEN Last TAB Closed = Ctrl Shift T

Take a SCREENSHOT = Ctrl + Switcher Key (square with two upright bars to the right of it)

Screen, Rotate 90 deg. = Ctrl Shift and Refresh
Screen Scale (Increase) = Ctrl Shift +
Screen Scale (Decrease) = Ctrl Shift –
Screen Scale (Reset) = Ctrl Shift )
SCROLL DOWN webpage = Space bar

Select All = Ctrl A
Select Content in Address Bar = Ctrl L or Alt D
Select Next Word/letter = Ctrl Shift
Select Previous Word/letter = Ctrl Shift ‘left arrow’
Select Text Beginning of line = Shift Search ‘Left Arrow’

Show webpage SOURCE = Ctrl U
STATUS Area fr LR = Shift Alt S

To open the Chrome TASK Manager = Shift Esc

Undo Last Action = Ctrl Z

ZOOM in = Ctrl +
ZOOM out = Ctrl –
ZOOM reset = Ctrl 0

TOP ROW Keys
1 – esc
2 – previous page in your browser history
3 – next page in your browser history
4 : Reload current page.
5 : full-screen mode.
6 : Switch to next window
7 : Decrease screen brightness
8 : Increase screen brightness
9 : Mute
10: Decrease volume.
11: Increase volume.
12: Power

To show all Keyboard Shortcuts in a visual "cue card," : Ctrl + Alt + ? (hit esc to exit)
